Take it to someone who knows what they are doing, like BW Chiptune for whom I am pleased to vouch. Jason owner stated that they have never failed to fix a DPF fault. I think I will keep mine and hold out a little longer to get a proper map. BW Chiptune has an excellent reputation on this forum, I've never heard a negative comment.

It is only when you come across the DPF fault which brings a draw back in design on a great vehicle. Which in turn fails to regenerate the DPF filter at set intervals, thus causing the filter to get blocked beyond economical repair.

When the DPF tends to get blocked this badly even a forced regeneration does not tend to work. Even if a forced regeneration does switch the light off at the first instant the light tends to come back on after a couple hundred miles as the filter has already been too far damaged.

Here at DPF solutions we advise to get this fault with a blocked DPF either replaced which works out to be very expensive, or have it removed totally at a fraction of the cost. This should be done as soon as you get any warnings, as a blocked filter in turn can cause bigger and more expensive problems on the vehicle. When the turbocharger fails this allows gasses to pass through the turbo into the engine which then contaminates the oil and eventually over pressurises the engine and can cause engine oil seals to fail as well as injector seals.

This is commonly known as Carbon-backup and is caused by a blocked DPF filter. The advantage of having the DPF removed is you will never have any DPF related problems ever again and once again can enjoy driving such a beautiful machine without incurring costly repairs or anticipating when this problem may re-occur in the future. The tunning company as explained as long as I have no dpf or egr issues keep them on. Plus I believe it's illegal to remove them. Plus don't forget to notify your insurance of your mods. Jason at BW Chiptune normally chimes in and says the same and he does the remaps.

I would ask more about this - it saves quite a bit of coke in the inlet and maintains efficiency as the miles clock up Come on Jason!

I asked also about the EGR, he recommended leaving that in too, since mapping it out would just give the DPF a harder life. I am personally of the ilk that, if it's working ok leave it be, but my personal usage worries me a little; My commute is just 5 miles each way, and I'll do about miles per month all in - with a "decent" trip of around 40 miles once.

I will have work trips to do as well, which will take me around miles or more each way once every 6 weeks or so - but they're not guaranteed. So, my next question would be; is my DPF now a time bomb? Because we know How to test them and fix them before they have problems Just ask how many cars we we map and fix for problems when they come in for a remap on the Dyno and find problems that will start or fix them the same day As for the Egr being shut off through the software so it does not open This will not stop the Regen of the Dpf and will help Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.

BMW 2.0 & 3.0 M47N2 / M57N2 Engine EGR Delete / Race Pipe

Got a problem with your BMW 1 Series? Post your car problems here and seek advice from fellow car owners. I've owned my D since December and purchased it cheap with a few problems. It's a 57 plate M-sport with an N47 2. No chain issues. Also it has had a DPF delete and "recode". The fuel pressure was between bar over specified values. I've replaced the rail pressure sensor with a genuine BMW item and still have the same problem so replaced the fuel rail pressure regulator too and it seems the HPFP is over pressuring the system still.

Has anyone had this problem? Does the HPFP have its own regulation internally? I'm more clued up with Mercedes 12years as a tech and they suffer from an internal regulator valve getting stuck and over pressuring the fuel system. I have currently got the rail pressure sensor unplugged as with it plugged in it kangaroos up the road below RPM or on light throttle, above that and it's fine. I don't wanna go replacing the HPFP and have the same issue when the fault could be elsewhere I'm just running out of pateience.

The other fault is the key only unlocks the car when pointed through the drivers window at the rear view mirror. I've replaced the diversity control unit at the back and had the key signal checked. Is there an antenna or something in the mirror that could be faulty??

Im looking at getting it taken out or cleaned but when i have looked in to it some of the sites are saying delete, Does the actual filter need to be removed or can you trick the ECU in to letting it pass the soot through? Could I get a new front pipe from an earlier model bmw I think earlier e90's dont have a dpf and fit that. Im looking for the easiest way really, Its for my dad who's so hes not really after getting a lot of work done but hes willing to get a remap if its the best option. Part of modern cars, and BMW's aswell, are expensive-ish parts, unfortunately. You might be able to get a custom solution sorted, but it'll all cost much of a muchness. If you get rid of the dbf filter you need to change the engine management I have looked into it on my Alfa. For me I can't delete dbf filter if it is recovery mode due to filter bunged up. I have to buy a fresh filter and then throw it away!

Deleting the dbf won't make you car turn into a mobile smoker. The smoke isn't a problem really, seen them on youtube and theres not much difference plus my dad isn't really bothered he only uses it for work, mainly city driving uses his other cars on an evening etc. Might have a look about and try get the DPF removed somewere then get the software removed and remap. Or is it something different on an Alfa?
